A second hat of carnival, I take during the rest of those of Dunkerque, the group "Mets ton Best Kletche", always at the Mi-Carême of Pont-sur-Sambre.

While those of Dunkerque are resting I am photographing their hats. Carnival hats look like in Germany (Look at Wiesbaden Daily Photo of Nicola). Here in the North of France is the same tradition.

Those of Dunquerque are resting between two dances. Here an old couple, but is it really a woman. For carnival people like to change in a woman if they are a man or the contrary.

Here always in the carnival Pont-sur-Sambre, called Mi-Carême. Here are again those of Dunkerque, taken as they were resting between two marches and dances. It is a street after the crossroad where the photos before were taken.

On these three pictures the people are wearing old clothes and old uniforms. Some wear intentionnaly worker clothes. They are of another carnival group of Pont-sur-Sambre, la "Belle Epoque".

106.The show-band of Rousies and the Majorettes.

This is a group we have seen near the tower at the beginning of my photo report about the town-parade of the carnival of Mi-Carême. You can see what for music-instruments the people are playing. They look like xylophone and make a very nice sound. At the right you see anew an house with blind windows of people that made in the past walls instead of the windows not to pay so much taxes. And the sign-boards on the wall are not very large so that we can see through them.
Majorettes are very popular in the North of France. Many girls like to be Majorettes. When they are they have to dance on the street and at the same time turning a piece of wood in their hands and to throw them to the sky all in the same rythm.

105. La Fanfare Municipale de Rousies. The town Fanfare of Rousies.

Now comes a new band in the town-parade of the carnival of Pont-sur-Sambre. It is the Municipale Fanfare of Rousies. To make music in the streets at the spring-feast is good to chase away the winter cold.
This group comes from a little town Rousies nearby Maubeuge about 20km away from Pont-sur-Sambre in the North-East of it.

A other picture of the Waltz dance on the streets by the parade of the Mi-CArême (carnival) of Pont-sur-Sambre. As danced by our friends J and JP.

Here is the following of the marriage on the ancient manner. At the end of the group are our friends J. and J.P. dancing a little Waltz on the street. We have seen them already earlier in the blog. As policeman J.P. wears an old uniform. He is not policeman in the real life.

100. Le mariage à l'ancienne. The wedding at the old manner.

Here you can see a group which make a wedding at the old manner. You can look at the old hats and there is also a choir girl (but in the past there were only choir-boys).
The photo was taken in Pont-sur-Sambre at the carnival parade of Mi-Carême two months ago.
You can see also in the back of the picture houses with blind windows. In the past people must pay much money for their taxes when they had many windows. The money that people had to pay at the town did depend of the number of windows there houses had. So that much people let close their windows with bricks.

You can see how the dwarfs which have to thrown confettis on the (big... big.... ) crowd, are happy to see somebody which can be thrown with confettis.

98. A witch.

Here is a witch. You know, by the Mi-Carême the witches are chased away and come on Haloween again. Because in spring and summer all people are in the streets and they can see the witches, so that they cannot stay without be seen. If they do not want to be burnt, they must go for the Brülage des Bosses.

Le petit train de la gaité or the Railway of the Joyce or of the Happyness is a group from Pont-sur-Sambre. Here you can see the driver of this train without trails. He seems to be very happy like the name of the train seems to say.

You can see the two statues (I and Jeanjean) are at the same place as on the other picture, but it is not the same picture because the children changed their places.

As I was young I looked so (on the right on the picture -click on the word so) and my name could be Dew Pearl. Now I look like on this picture above fat and old (middle old). The glasses especially with their dark sun glasses don't make me very pretty, but so is it. We are growing old.
