79. Bye, Bye, only for a while...

Here the group of Dunkerque is going away, but we shall find him again in a little while...
"Mets ton best'kletche of Dunkerque".
Only the group of Dunkerque leave for a while, not I.
Perle de Rosée.

78. From the far..

Now the group is going a little faster than me. But you know : Jeanjean was behind this group, and behind me.
Perle de Rosée.

77. A little speech.

When the group must stay, a little speech is welcome !
"Mets ton best klet'ch" of Dunkerque.
Perle de Rosée.

76. Falling in love...!

Do you fall in love for the group of Dunkerque, like this man is falling in love for his neighbour ?
Perle de Rosée.

75. Their best clothes 2

Yes, Mesdames, it is a day of feast to-day.
"Mets ton best klet'ch" of Dunkerque.
Perle de Rosée.

74. Their best clothes... 1

To protect of the first warm sun of the year or to protect for a possible rain ?

"Mets ton best klet'che de Dunkerque.

Perle de Rosée.

73. Ils ont mis leur best klet'che-They have their best clothes.

"Mets ton best klet'che", or the group of the Carnival of Dunkerque. They have their best clothes and have all prepared for an possible rain to come.
Perle de Rosée.

72. The mouse is above....

When the sun shines (umbrellas of the group of Dunkerque at the carnival of Pont-sur-Sambre).
Perle de Rosée.

71. En avant la musique ! Music please !

The music of Dunkerque : In a dance crossroads on the street : the groups play and dance always
at the crossroads.

70. Mets ton beste Klet'che - Set your best clothes.

The post-card "Mets ton best Kletche", used by the permission of the carnival group "Mets ton best kletche" of Dunkerque.

69. Mother and child.

You have already seen this mother with her curious child on the main blog. When walking, the pans make noise on the floor.
Perle de Rosée.

68. The mouse umbrella, the scottish man, and other colourful clothes.

Mets ton best kletch ! Mets ton plus bel habit. Put your best clothes. So is the slogan of the group of Dunkerque. One can see here : they have their best clothes.
Perle de Rosée.

67. A speak with the giant.

The giant is always waiting on the children and the group of Dunkerque male a little speak with him.
Perle de Rosée.

66. Carnival hats (2) and umbrellas.

Carnival hats.
CArnival hats from the back. (Groupe of Dukerque).

65.Carnival hats.

Here you can see not only the group but also their carnival hats. In Dunkerque it was spoken (and also now it is spoken a little flamish), and for the carnival they have the same customs like in Germany. In Dunkerque is every year a very big carnival.
Perle de Rosée.

64. The umbrellas are to high to be seen.

Here you can see another view of the group of Dunkerque.
Perle de Rosée.

63. Curious Umbrellas.

And after the musicians are coming the disguisded persons. They bear curious umbrellas. You can see the top of one umbrella in the main blog.
Perle de Rosée.

62. The group of Dunkerque.

Now I'm coming at the head of the defilé where there is also the people of a group of the carnival of Dunkerque. First the musicians are playing before the group. This music sounds a little scotish but Daunkerque is a great harbour and the sailors travelled much so that they have musics that sound like one another. They are playing on fifres that looks like flutes but have another sound.
Perle de Rosée.
Perle de Rosée.

61. A break .

  • Jeanjean is waiting . Inside him there is something like a great basket with the head on the floor. And the bearer stays in it. The schoolchildren (children of Jeanjean) are coming in a house to drink and eat something but Jeanjean is to tall to come with them in the house and he must wait outwards.

Perle de Rosée.

60. Mr Mayor and his councellors.

Here in the middle with the white hairs is our mayor and at his side some coucellors.
Perle de Rosée.

59. Whom ? Him ! Jeanjean.

Jeanjean don't pay attention at his children and it is like on the schoolyard. But Jeanjean clothes are too long, so that he has some problems to walk !
Perle de Rosée.

58. Always nearer we are approaching him...

Now, we see him better... Or ?
Him ? Whom ? Where ?
Perle de Rosée

57. And there ? What's this ?

I am walking so quick I can to come nearer. There, there... What do I see? Walking on the streets ? What do I see. Among his children...
To see him better, click on the photo.
Perle de Rosée.

56. The street music of Pont-sur-Sambre (Fanfare).

The middle jeanjeans (the street orchestra of Pont-sur-Sambre) is playing here. The music is very well (no flon-flons, but a more nostalgic one).

Perle de Rosée.

55.Jeanjeans (Middle-Size)

Here this musicians have the same clothes as our giant Jean-Jean. I say it is the middle size because the children of Jeanjean are really children and the musicians have less than the half of the size of jeanjean, the Giant. There are the musicians of the "Fanfare Municipale de Pont-sur-Sambre" (Town street orchestra of Pont-sur-Sambre).
perle de rosée.

54. A Giant ? Or dwarfs ?

Here the little dwarfs are very courageous. They have their tools to work in the forest.
Perle de Rosée.

53. Is there a giant here ? Where ? I see dwarfs ?

Trying to find the giant at the head of the defile, I'm finding now little dwarfs. And not the smalest : the very famous dwarfs of Snowwhite ! But in the far one can see the Giant !
Perle de Rosée.

52. Confettis on the street.

And this is the result : Confettis on the street. But no panic ! To morrow morning is nothing more on the streets and the cars can ride.
Perle de Rosée.

51. Hello ! Do you see me ? I'm here !

Another photo of the children thowing confettis on the crowd. The other photo is on the main blog "Pont-sur-Sambre and Avesnois Daily Photo".

47. The biggest music instrument.

Is it a bass tuba ? I think. At least it is the biggest instrument of the Fanfare of Sous-Le-Bois playing in Pont-sur-Sambre. Maubeuge is about between 17km or 19 km far away from Pont-sur-Sambre. There are two roads that leads to Maubeuge.
Perle de Rosée.

46. La fanfare Municipale de Sous-le-Bois.

The town fanfare of Sous-Le-Bois playing at the Carnival of Pont-sur-Sambre. Sous-Le-Bois is a town district of Maubeuge which is the biggest town in the neighbourhood. It is in the Val de Sambre and has 36 OOO inhabitants.
On this picture you can see on the right the town hall of Pont-sur-Sambre.
Perle de Rosée.

45. La belle Epoque.

La Belle Epoque; La belle époque is a carnival group of Pont-sur-Sambre. They are dancing near the Tower at the beginning of the carnival defilé. You can see also the sign-boards which lead to the surrounding towns and villages.

36. The tower at the Mi-Carême.

Here I'm a-coming besides the tower and I look at the crowd standing and watching at the dances, that the groups do at the departure. Jeanjean is already away for the tour of the town, but I shall run after him...
Perle de Rosée.

35. Carrussel

Not fare from the tower, a carussel is waiting on small drivers. You've already seen the small car on the main blog.
Perle de Rosée.

34. The trees in beautiful clothes.

From the far one can see the people a-staying at the main croosroad to see the departure of the defilé of carnival. The trees have their clothes of Sunday, but no leaves at all.
Perle de Rosée.

33.. Colors instead of leaves.

The trees are prepared for the feast, one can see colourful sheet of paper in them.
Perle de Rosée.

32..The main street - without cars.

On the road there are more people who are walking as in other times, but to day (the second of April) the cars are prohibited in the midtown. So that it gives to the town a very quiet apperence and one can here only from the far a nostalgic music. Because the feast was beginning as I made this photo, and we were a little to late to see the first groups dance near the tower. On other days there are always a lot of cars which are on this road.

Perle de Rosée.

31. Supplément Mi-Carême.

  • From to-day I publish here the rest of the photos of the Mi-Carême (Carnival of Pont-sur-Sambre) which I do not publish in the main blog to stay in the actuality of the town.
  • A partir d'aujourd'hui, nous allons voir sur ce supplément au Daily Blog de Pont-sur-Sambre, les photos de la Mi-CArême de Pont que je n'ai pas publiée dans l'autre blog pour rester dans l'actualité de la ville.

26. Overfloading with ice n°n minus 5

You can see a photo taken at the same place on the same day on "Pont-sur-Sambre and Avesnois Daily Photo" (link on the sidebar). The water of the overfloaded becomes iced around the trees that are below the edge of the road. Roads near the river are built a little higher as the river but sometimes they are also overfloades (Foto taken in Pont on the road to Bachant).
